Renuka Kalra’s path to becoming an Early Childhood Education (ECE) instructor is a testament to the transformative power of passion, resilience, and community support.
Growing up in India, Renuka was often the go-to caregiver for her younger siblings and cousins. She thrived in this role, captivated by the wonder and joy of young children. It was clear from the beginning that her career would involve nurturing young minds.
After moving to Canada, Renuka navigated the challenges of raising a child in a new country without the familiar support of friends and family. A chance encounter with an Early-ON Centre marked a turning point in her life. The centre offered her parenting guidance and a community of support, helping her adjust to her new environment and reaffirming her love for working with children.
Renuka decided to pursue a career in Early Childhood Education. She earned her ECE diploma at Sheridan College and went on to work at the Early-ON Centre for 17 years, finding fulfillment in supporting children and families.
Now, as an instructor at triOS College, a regulated career college, Renuka draws from her extensive experience to prepare the next generation of ECE professionals. “Teaching at triOS College is immensely rewarding,” she says. “The college offers a high-quality education in a supportive, close-knit environment ideal for learning.”
Regulated career colleges like triOS provide students with practical, hands-on training, small class sizes, and a supportive, inclusive atmosphere. This approach equips graduates with the skills they need and fosters a sense of community and belonging—an essential foundation for future educators.
Renuka highlights the importance of the practicum component of the ECE program at triOS, where students gain real-world experience in childcare settings. This blend of theory and practice ensures that graduates are ready to meet the demands of the job market and make a meaningful impact in their communities.
Renuka’s story underscores the critical role that regulated career colleges play in shaping effective educators who contribute to strong, healthy communities. She is committed to inspiring her students to excel and to appreciate the unique benefits of a regulated career college education.
Through her work at triOS College, Renuka continues to champion the importance of community, support, and high-quality education in Early Childhood Education. Her journey is a powerful reminder of how education can change lives and build stronger, more inclusive communities.
