NACC Celebrates 115th Anniversary

TORONTO – October 17, 2011 – The National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) is pleased to mark its 115th anniversary with the launch of a new initiative aimed at attracting international students to Canada.  The proposed plan could result in the creation of 2,800 new jobs and $800 million invested into the Canadian economy.

This plan includes the promotion of Canadian career colleges internationally and the lobbying of the federal government to better promote career colleges overseas (by, amongst other things, including career colleges in the Imagine Education au/in Canada Brand).  It also focuses on working with Citizenship and Immigration Canada and provincial governments to support a revised process that will allow international students to obtain study visas and work permits when registering at career colleges in Canada.

“We are proud of the work that has been accomplished by the NACC in the last 115 years,” said Dr. Michael McAllister, NACC’s President.  “But we also recognize the need to expand our horizons and the importance that this initiative presents for the future.  This is a positive opportunity for international students, career colleges, and Canadian society.”
