Administrative ExcellenceHere are some administrative strategies and initiatives that your private career college might adopt:
- Review and evaluate how your college is maintaining student contact information. Consider updating that information throughout the school year and at graduation. Incorporate a “Contact Update” form into your college website to maintain information on graduates. Add e-mail addresses and secondary contacts to student information sheets.
- Develop a default management plan and ensure it is followed. While this document provides a brief overview of certain elements, we recommend that you contact a school that already follows a comprehensive plan for more information. Your provincial Career Colleges Association, Canada Student Loans or your provincial or territorial Student Loans office can be good sources of information as well.
- If you already follow a default management plan, conduct a review and evaluation for effectiveness. What could you do to improve effectiveness? Again, utilize the knowledge and expertise of others.
- Update your website. Have a designer build a site that is easy for you to update and maintain. Keep the site clean and current. Provide information on types of employment students might gain following completion of each program offered. Provide links to Canada Student Loans and your provincial or territorial student loans program. Consider providing an online job board for current students as well as graduates.
