It is with great pleasure that we announce that our NACC PSW Equivalency Assessments are in place and ready to assist.
Up until recently, individuals with a PSW-type credential earned in Canada but from outside of the Province of Ontario were having difficulties with employment, due to the credential “not being up to the standards”.
Some of these individuals were forced to go back to school to repeat some of their training in order to obtain a PSW credential simply because there was not a body that was providing interprovincial equivalency assessments.
If an individual had obtained a PSW-type credential from outside of Canada he or she had the opportunity to have the credentials assessed. For example, World Education Services provides such assessments. However, they do not assess inter-provincial credentials.
With the creation of the Ontario PSW Registry, NACC saw an opportunity to assist such individuals by implementing the NACC Equivalency Assessments. Individuals who have obtained a PSW-type credential in Canada can apply by sending the appropriate documents to NACC, and we will assess the equivalency to the NACC PSW Program Standards.
The NACC PSW Program is one of the three programs in Ontario that have been approved by the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care – along with the OCSA and the Public Colleges of Ontario.
